Up on the Roof



I'll eventually be adding a larger series of these -mostly from the 30s & 40s- to Square America. It seems by the 60s (maybe because of air conditioning) people weren't spending nearly as much time up there. I'll probably be pairing it with photos of people standing by railroad tracks- another common photographic trope that seemed to lose its appeal in the 1950s as the car replaced the train as the most common means of long distance travel.

The dancing one is really very charming!
I can't wait to see the series on square america. I love the photos you post and I've actually used some of the photo booth images to make paintings.
